ZERO WASTE: Make-up Removing Cloths

To both love make-up and have to deal with removing it is a pain in the behind. This is especially true if you're looking to minimize the waste produced by these activities. Much of beauty consumption relies in convenience, disregarding what that convenience costs. A person in the United States can produce up to 680 pounds of paper waste per year, a worrying thought for what accounts in landfills.

Ever since I've started to minimize my waste, using make-up wipes was a necessary evil that I searched for alternatives. Sure, a simple scrub of the face works but I always prefer to wipe it all off, And what of the times when I don't have the time to wash it off? And then I remembered that Make-up Removing Cloths were a thing. I'd received a small sized version of the Original Make-up Eraser Cloth a few years back but clearly it wasn't enough to wash all my face properly. I purchased the Original size recently, flamingo edition because why not, it's flamingos.

Look at it. It's beautiful. Source: Sephora.com

As a disclaimer, I'm not sponsored or have been contacted by neither Sephora or the makers of the product. I bought this with my own money for the purposes of regular use. The link provided here is the Sephora online store front, where it can be purchased. That being said, read on to see what the week has been and why I would recommend.

As stated before, this was not the first experience I've had with this particular brand as I used the small version in the past. This small version worked wonders for removing eye products, and I'm happy to say that the full-size version does the job quite well for the rest of the face. I usually have a fair amount of products on my face: foundation, concealer, powder, along with setting spray. Yes, I'm aware that's not really minimalist but I find joy in seeing how colors mix and match themselves to help bring some extra glow to my face.

The product itself only requires water but I usually pair it with a water-based facial soap to make sure my skin gets some care as well. The cloth has a soft and "buffer" side that ensures you get as much of the make-up off. You can see the product come off with a few wipes along the face, leaving your skin clean of all the products. It then only needs to be rinsed and dried out for the next use. Very satisfying. It's machine washable, and I personally recommend tossing it in the laundry or hand-washing it every week to prevent any residue from becoming permanent. It's supposed to last years, so it's a product that will last a long time.

I would recommend for anyone who enjoys wearing make-up and doesn't want to contribute to the paper waste produced by disposable wipes.
