LIFE: An Update: December 4th
Two days ago, after 73 days of no electricity, my area was finally powered up and so I can manage to post this update in a somewhat timely manner. And I am fully aware of the irony of "timeliness" and my own writing schedule.
It's been a long, exhausting two months and some change, to dealing with weather (both hot and rainy), to trials and tribulations with my car and keeping a calm head through it all. The experience of Hurricane Maria has not been easy to say the least, as every part of the island was affected somehow. But it's been a personal journey to discover what makes me strong, and what needs working on. Internet is mostly a game of chance, with repairs coming and going. The availability of studying areas has been limited greatly due to the water and mold damages caused in many, many libraries across all universities.
But that hasn't stopped me from pursuing my last year in law school and a full-time job. If anything, the losses and limitations I've experienced (thankfully nothing too severe aside from the power) have made me appreciate what I gain back and what can be done to fight.
I was planning on doing vlogmas before this mess, before the world stopped in its' tracks for us in this small island that fateful September 20th, 2017. I've managed to finish a four-page draft of my article for the Law Review Journal, if a bit limited in scope due to the whole not-having-internet dilemma. Up until recently, my iPad mini has been pulling the brunt of the work and writing, now my desktop and a recently-refurbished laptop have been picking up the pace.
I'll post more tomorrow but eyeing an editorial calendar will definitely help with the scheduling and content. It's a life blog, so be it.
