The Week in Summary and a Talk About Inconsistency
It's been almost a year since my last post and, as much as I would love to have more content in, I have to realize that I'm terribly inconsistent with my own blogs. It's par the course, I get excited about a new project, and then I grind to a halt because I lack the discipline needed to make it work. That said, I also feel deathly afraid of posting, even as I have so many ideas to put here. I want to make a lifestyle/study/anything I want to put here and I end up balking due to "oh it's too much work..." Well, let's give this another shot, because I truly do enjoy making content, and I really need an outlet from work, study and law.
There's something so inherently gate-keeping as making a lifestyle blog when you feel your life is terribly boring when compared to others in the void. You have to make it in the ~*aesthetic*~ or you're a joke. But what is a boring life? It's a matter of context and preferences. One of my inspirations was Luxirare, the old one mind you. She had one of the most stunning and inspiring fashion and lifestyle blogs I know but she was high end to say the least. Maybe it's the aspiration of grandeur that draws me in but also stifles me.
Maybe I shouldn't compare myself to other bloggers out there and just make the content.
The Week in Summary
April 2 - Not much happened other than taking my grandmother out for lunch. My car, this temperamental seventeen year old sedan, had its air conditioner busted for a while and earlier blew out its radiator (fixed that very Saturday). While we suffered through the 90-degree Caribbean sun, we managed to distract ourselves from the incoming week. She had a soon to be decade's long mourning to recover from, and I had to deal with the impending systemic student strike and demonstrations against the Puerto Rico Fiscal Control Committee.
April 3 - The source of all my car issues revealed itself when I decided to load up the car's AC gases and I could not work. This development frustrated me and my father but it was enough to get the proper repairs done. It was here that I thought about reviving this blog.
April 4 - Back to work and I was happy to be there, even if I worked more hours than I normally did. There are busy seasons and then there are...days of unending paperwork that must be tended. I find those days of repetitive tasks to be relaxing, able to let my brain relax while keeping focused.
April 5 - It was inevitable to see what happened to the National University Assembly: an indefinite strike was approved and the University would be closed by the students in retaliation. I cannot blame them for seeking this resolve, the cuts themselves are entirely too much for the system to handle in its' present state but I see it as undefined, idealistic and in need of organization. I would've preferred an open campus but I respect the will of the student body and as a student, I will keep myself informed.
The rest of the days were noteworthy in the whirlwind of work and marathon of Administrative Law to finish a paper. I love law, and my grades have shown that I am working towards the Juris Doctor of my dreams. I must catch up during this down time while juggling the busiest week at work: tax season. I must point out, we're finally up to date in everything, including the quarterly work.
Favorites of the Week
This section is for Saturdays only as I pick things I liked during the week starting with
1. Nyx Butter Lipstick in Ripe Berry - February Ipsy Bag
I got this on the February Ipsy bag and boy do I love this lipstick. I'm more of a lip gloss person but this one has become part of my staple make-up items even in the spring. It's a rich color that applies smoothly and doesn't feel waxy or dry on my lips.
2. Leuchtturn 1917 Dotted Grid Journal in Teal
This journal was a gift from my twin who runs the Delicate Sketches (go support her!) and it's been my constant companion in my quest for planning and organization. I'm still experimenting with the conflicting minimalism and decorating each page (the woes of having so much to do) but this is an amazing product and would recommend it to forever and back.
